This past week I have been searching far, near and wide for any information regarding Irish Slow Sessions in the area. There was a former group that met here in Bloomington but had fizzled out sometime in 2009. My searches resulted in outdated email addresses and no further inclinations.
THEN………
Just yesterday, last night, while perusing the shelves (and what lovely shelves they are) at the Book Corner, Bry says to me “Hey, look!” and I turn to find the very person who formerly taught the slow sessions here in town. Found out some news and got a new email to write.
Somewhere in Indy is my destination..

After much anticipation and corrections (including finding a new pdf printer that didn’t distort my image quality) I give you….

Armadillo Hat
A deliciously thick and agreeably textured hat featuring a deep ribbing followed by echoing purl ridges. The crown decreases using hexagonal wedges. Quick and super thick for cold, cold days!
Available for US$2.50

Wool is a deity in this household.
She rests with wind instruments.
She is courted by cats.
She is soft.
She is perfect.
She is over-plied.
She is waiting for her long lost twin.
She piles upon bookshelves and drapes along paintings.
She is not shy.
She sleeps coiled around frame drums on the studio walls.
She has become her own work of art.
She hides in shadows with the Carved Owl Trio.
She is raw.
She is spun.
She is spectrum.

Funny how Fall makes you knit with fervor. Fall for me, always magically makes unfinished projects become finished. Small items waiting to have ends woven in and buttons sewn on finally get their oats.
The mornings have been wonderfully cool and you can even smell the Fall. Yeah, one could say all that I am smelling is the dried and decomposing leaves but to me that is Fall. Already I am craving veggie shepherd pies and hot apple cider.

Turn turn turn.
Spinning. Kundert. Denim Pine. Merino.
I am almost to the end of my first ounce. The new spindle spins deliciously even more so with yards of fiber attached. The spin time (if not interrupted by my curiouser and curiouser felines) is satisfactory and keeps me drafting and winding well into the wee hours. Although all of this spinning is taking place on my spindle I feel more controlled to ply on my wheel (and secretly I miss my wheel but the convenience out rules the moment).
I have finished my All-Day Beret!
I am working on a couple new designs: the Albeit and the Sobeit.

Discount yarn, good quality discount yarn at its best, is mostly non-existant at usual hum-drum retail stores yet I was able to totally score on some Patons Bamboo Silk for less than half the original price. Sometimes with discount yarn you rethink colors you never would have chosen with your own braincells before. Some times limitations are good (other times nil). Just saying.
